“Przewalski Horses are among the most threatened wildlife species in the world. In January 2001 the entire world population consisted of no more than 1.435 individual animals.

The Red List (IUCN) of Endangered Species classifies the species as extinct.” (PHS, 2009)

Their survival is due to conservation and breeding programmes of zoos, and there are currently several re-introduction projects.
